Welcome to the NI Departments Research Database
Research plays a key role in helping shape the policies of the Northern Ireland Administration.
Looking at the research helps to identify and clarify the problem which is being addressed, as well as helping to identify potential solutions. Research helps policy-makers to think of new and improved ways of doing things. It is an essential part of the policy development process and ensures that there is a robust evidence base supporting the decision-making.
This portal website, for research commissioned by the Northern Ireland Administration, is designed to:
- strengthen the role of analysis in policy-making;
- provide access to the local evidence base underpinning Government policies;
- promote awareness of research which already exists in the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to avoid duplication; and
- make research funded by the Administration more widely available.
It is intended to ensure that the website is well populated by Departments and accessible to a wider 'policy community'. We hope you find the research articles both interesting and of value.
